FAQ

best boston senior photographer

Where are you located?

I’m located outside of Boston, but I shoot all around the Boston area and suburbs and also do sessions on Cape Cod. My sessions on Cape Cod are limited, so please plan ahead for the best dates.

What type of photographer are you?

My style of photography is clean, modern and fun! I love outgoing girls who are confident with themselves. I love to play with the sunlight in my pictures! I’m a natural light photographer only, and shoot outdoors in nature.

How far ahead do I need to book my senior session?

I book out in advance in the summer and fall months, it’s best to start thinking about your senior pictures as soon as possible. As the deadline for school yearbooks approach, I get very busy with sessions, so try to plan a month ahead at least.

What makes Tulip Tree Photographer different from other senior photographers in Boston?

The biggest thing that makes me different is I ONLY shoot seniors! Some photographers claim to shoot it all, but I specialize in high school seniors, it’s what I love to do! We also give you unique pictures that your friends will be jealous of! We do natural poses and some model type poses as well. I love to bring an edge of fashion to my photography as well, and I give you guidance on what to wear.

Where and when will we shoot?

That depends on you! Some of my senior’s have a good idea of where they’d like to shoot, whether it be an actual location, or a type of location (urban, water, forest, etc). The timing of the shoot is very important, since I only use natural light, we need to shoot a few hours before sunset, typically. So plan ahead if you have after school activities or commitments. Typically, I wait a few days before the session to see what the weather is looking like, which may shift the start time forward or backward a bit. I also always advice to get your hair and makeup done for the shoot, so there may be additional time before the shoot you need to plan for.

Is editing included?

Light editing is included, I don’t over edit or make people look like dolls. Most of the works comes when we actually shoot the session – I move you around to get the best light and use a reflector to bounce light in your face. This is also why professional makeup application is SO important – you don’t need editing if you have makeup applied correctly – this is the most and best natural way to achieve the best results! Trust me!

Will you give guidance on what to wear for my senior pictures?

Yes! I’m always here to help you pick out outfits – you can text or email me outfit ideas. I also provide a Pinterest board with tons of outfit inspiration! Outfit’s make or break a session – and don’t forget accessories – jewelry, hats, etc.

What happens if it rains on my scheduled date?

If it is raining or extremely windy, I will call the shoot and we can reschedule. I typically don’t call off a shoot until the day of – weather forecasts are always so unpredictable, so we take a wait and see approach and will cancel up to a few hours ahead of our scheduled time. If it does rain on the actual shoot – we will usually take cover until it passes and continue, find an overhang to shoot under, or in extreme cases stop the shoot and finish up early the next morning if possible.

Are digital images included in my session fee?

Yes! I make things easy and only offer digital images so my clients can do whatever they’d like with the images! I even suggest professional grade labs you can print your images!

But I found another photographer who will give me a session and digital images for a low price!

There are tons of options in the Boston area for your senior pictures! There are photographers for every budget, but it’s important to look at the quality of the images and the style of the photographer. You want to find someone who has the style and quality you want! Just remember, high school graduation will only happen once, so have fun and embrace this time before you go away to college, and have an amazing experience with your senior pictures. Moms, I’ve heard from many of you that you regret not hiring a professional photographer to capture this time in your child’s life! And who doesn’t want a beautiful picture of your child hanging in your living room once they head off to college?

How much does it cost?

I keep things simple around here, no packages, no products — an on-location session and digital images are $599.
